Maternal Mental Health: Free Moms' Support Groups in Port Salerno

momssupporting moms

Free support groups in Port Salerno, FL to help moms feel supported, connected, and less alone

Maternal mental health is often overlooked, yet it’s at the heart of a mom’s well-being. Becoming a mother is beautiful and life-changing, but it can also bring unexpected feelings of anxiety, burnout, guilt, and isolation. Whether you’re in the postpartum stage or balancing motherhood with a career, many women silently wonder if they’re the only ones struggling. You’re not, and you don’t have to do it alone.

At Whole Counseling and Wellness, we believe every mom deserves a village. Our moms' support groups at Gilbert’s Coffee Bar have brought moms together to share, connect, and lift one another up. These gatherings are a breath of fresh air, a place where you can exhale, sip coffee, and find encouragement in a community that understands. This fall, we’re continuing our groups, and we’d love for you to be part of them.

Understanding Maternal Mental Health

Maternal mental health refers to a mom’s emotional and psychological well-being during pregnancy, postpartum, and beyond. Conditions like postpartum depression and anxiety affect about 1 in 5 women in the United States. Working mothers often face additional stressors, including long hours, the mental burden of household responsibilities, and the guilt of trying to “do it all.”

Our motherhood support groups offer a powerful antidote. They provide a space to talk openly about sleepless nights, identity shifts, and the tug-of-war between career and family. Sharing your story, and hearing someone else’s, creates relief, validation, and a reminder: you’re not alone.

The Importance of Community

Motherhood can feel isolating, even when you can't recall the last time you had "alone time". In our moms' support groups, you’ll find a supportive network that celebrates your victories, holds space for your struggles, and shares practical strategies.

One mom might talk about how she coped with postpartum anxiety, while another opens up about managing burnout from deadlines and dinner prep. These conversations become lifelines of encouragement and real-world advice.

What to Expect in Our Support Groups

A Safe and Non-Judgmental Space

Come exactly as you are, messy bun, baby in tow, or fresh from a long day at work. This is a judgment-free space where confidentiality and compassion are our top priorities.

Structured Yet Flexible Conversations

We begin with a check-in, then dive into topics like stress management, self-care, coping with overwhelm, or balancing career and motherhood. Some weeks feel like a deep exhale, others like brainstorming with friends, but every time, you’ll leave lighter.

Specialized Support With Real-Life Understanding

Each support group is facilitated by Dr. Ellen Chance, Ph.D., LMHC, PMH-C, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Counselor Educator, and Perinatal Mental Health–Certified specialist. With both professional expertise and personal experience as a mom, Dr. Chance works to create a safe, supportive environment where every voice is valued. Through her practice, Whole Counseling and Wellness, she is dedicated to helping women navigate every stage of motherhood, from pregnancy and postpartum to the ongoing balance of family, career, and personal well-being. You can learn more about her services, resources, and approach to maternal mental health by visiting www.wholecounselingwellness.com.

Diverse Perspectives

Our groups bring together moms in various stages of motherhood, new moms, moms of multiples, working moms, and everything in between. This diversity enriches every conversation and reminds us there’s no one “right” way to be a mother.
